Buddy Bolden: First Man of Jazz

Buddy Bolden

Buddy Bolden is considered by many to be the first person to play jazz music. He was a cornetist in New Orleans and was known for playing “loud and brassy” Although his story is fragmented, what is known is that he was and essential figure in Jazz History. In New Orleans Bolden was “crowned the King of Jazz”. The legacy that he left behind inspired an entire era, and for that I am grateful. As a true fan of jazz music, its singers, and its unparalleled sound, I hope to stay true to its fundamentals and work toward finding my niche within it.
